As we celebrate Camp Whitsett’s 80th anniversary, the Friends of Camp Whitsett invite you to join the 80 for 80 Campaign, an effort to raise $80,000 to strengthen the heart of camp for the next generation.
80 for 80 is an opportunity for our community to come together and invest in the places and people that keep Camp Whitsett thriving. The Heart of Our Campaign
At Camp Whitsett, the heart isn’t found in just one place. It lives in the programs where Scouts learn new skills, the entrance that welcomes generations home, the staff who dedicate their summers to serving others, the volunteers who give their time year after year, and the Scouts whose lives are changed by the camp experience.
The 80 for 80 campaign invests in each of these parts of Camp Whitsett’s heart. Together, these projects will preserve our traditions, strengthen our facilities, and ensure that Camp Whitsett continues to inspire future generations for decades to come.
A New Home for Scoutcraft
Scoutcraft has long been one of the geographic centers of camp life. This campaign will help create a permanent, welcoming home for this program area, providing a space that will serve Scouts for decades to come.
A New Gateway to Camp
Every Scout knows the feeling of arriving at Whitsett. As you pass through the entrance, you’re home. A new gateway will create a welcoming first impression while honoring the generations who have made Camp Whitsett special. Funding for this project will also support the Big Jon Fund and its mission.
Supporting the Heart of Our Staff
Every great summer at Whitsett begins with an incredible staff. Repairs to the staff lounge, including needed floor and ceiling improvements, will create a safer and more comfortable place where our staff can rest, recharge, and build the community that makes Whitsett so special.
Keeping the Heart Beating Through Camperships
No Scout should miss the opportunity to experience Camp Whitsett because of financial barriers. A portion of the campaign will strengthen the Campership Endowment, ensuring future Scouts can create the same life-changing memories that generations before them have enjoyed.
Supporting the Leaders Who Make It All Possible
If campaign goals exceed the funding needed for these projects, additional funds will be used to improve adult leader facilities, including a new shower and restroom. Our volunteer leaders give countless hours to make Scouting possible, and investing in their experience helps ensure Camp Whitsett remains a place where adults are excited to return year after year.
