2022 Friends and Family Adventure Weekend
Join us for a long weekend full of fun and camaraderie!
Unplug from the Internet, forget the DVR, and leave the cell phone in your car! The FOCW Friends and Family Adventure Weekend offers you a unique opportunity to share special time with family and friends over an extended weekend at beautiful Camp Whitsett. There is something for campers of all ages and interests, whether you prefer to kick back and relax, conquer the high ropes course or a nearby mountain peak, or something in between.
This year’s Weekend will include the presentation of theSentinel Award to former Camp Director and long time supporter of Camp, Jim Pruss. The Sentinel Award is an award presented by Friends of Camp Whitsett to individuals whose contributions to Camp Whitsett have made a significant and lasting impact on the Whitsett Experience. To date, only two other individuals have received this award – Chuck Smith and Bob Murphy. Join us for this Weekend where we honor Jim Pruss with this award.
Ranger Joe, along with Ariel Annis and other Council staff, Friends of Camp Whitsett volunteers and outside volunteers, and contractors from various trades, have worked very hard to restore and rebuild Camp after the Windy Fire. The new and improved Shotgun Range, being built by Richard Strong in memory of his son, Will, and the redesigned and restored C.O.P.E. course are just a couple of the projects that have been undertaken. Work has also begun on the new and improved dining hall, with a completely new and much larger slab being poured before the Summer Camp season. Work has also begun on the Astronomy Platform being built by F.O.C.W. in memory of Ed and Kaye Ryan, with a goal of having it operational for this year’s Summer Camp.
